Blog “no longer” in progress
Destination : Around the world
Two years of living abroad and endless adventures later, I’m finally composing the travel blog I “meant” to begin in 2012. That year, I bought my first backpack and left my homeland behind, jetting off to the other side of the world, curious and intrigued by what was beyond Australian shores.
I never imagined at that point the extent of what would follow, hopping from country to country and having the most enriching cultural life experiences. The most surprising part of the aforementioned though, is that a couple of years on I haven’t tired of this lifestyle, or even felt close to being satisfied by the amount of travel I’ve accomplished. Instead of course, the bucket list grows longer and the trips are never ending.
Like any traveller, there’s a goal in sight. I’m aiming to reach 30 countries before arriving at that number in age. (Although, I’ve still got a few more years). As it happens, the wanderlust has peaked again and I’m off exploring. This adventure takes me across parts of Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East over the next few months.
Some of you may already be familiar with my regular wanderings if you’ve seen my Instagram feed @whistleandawhim. I’ve always wanted to go a step further and share a personal written account of the places which feature in these images – accompanied by recommendations and advice which might be helpful to other travellers headed to the same destinations. So here I am.
With all of that said, standby for some sun from my next post: Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France.
